adidas Pulsebeat SPZL Revives Joy Division ‘Unknown Pleasures’ Album Cover
Check your pulse, this collaboration is "taking different roads".
The adidas Pulsebeat SPZL, a visceral collision of football, music, and fashion, was unveiled by British graphic designer Peter Saville and adidas SPEZIAL curator Gary Aspden after the two previously collaborated with Liam Gallagher.
The classic cover art created by Saville for the Joy Division album Unknown Pleasures holds a particular position in popular culture since its debut in 1979. Using biometric information from the men’s and women’s teams of Manchester United Football Club, Saville has revisited the artwork’s distinctive waveforms, Pulsebeat, for this new collaboration with adidas SPEZIAL.
The Pulsebeat SPZL is based on the Blackburn SPZL silhouette and has suede uppers in a black-on-black colorway with reflective and flock 3-Stripes on either side. The tongue, insoles, leather hangtag, and box all include Pulsebeat artwork by Saville.
Feast your eyes as the Peter Saville x adidas Pulsebeat SPZL is launching on 26 September on adidas CONFIRMED, with a price tag of US$150.
