A card most commonly seen in the Dragapult ex deck, the Radiant Alakazam card from Incandescent Arcana [S11a] has also begun to emerge in an increasingly popular variant of the Pidgeot ex deck. Although like all other Radiant Pokémon cards, it was rotated out of tournament play in Japan in January 2025 and will be rotated out internationally on 11 April, the card continues to have an impact on the international Pokémon TCG metagame in its final tournament-legal days.

About Radiant Alakazam (Incandescent Arcana [S11a] 031/068)

Painful Spoons, Radiant Alakazam’s Ability, is used to spread damage across the opponent’s Pokémon by moving two damage counters from one opposing Pokémon to another. This can either help the player set up KO’s or apply pressure after retreat-locking the opponent. Painful Spoons can even be used to remove damage counters from an opposing Pokémon that grows stronger when more damaged.

For collectors, the primary appeal of this card lies in the fact that it depicts the Shiny version of Alakazam just as all Radiant Pokémon cards depicts their respective Pokémon’s Shiny version. It comes in the Radiant-exclusive rarity of K. The illustration which shows energy crackling behind Radiant Alakazam highlights the extent of Radiant Alakazam’s immense psychic powers.
