Pandas are no longer endangered, they’ve just metamorphosed into cash cows. The colorway on the Dunks have become omnipresent in recent years. The silhouette is a wide-open canvas for many forms and iterations: be it a reverse set-up or with added embellishments like the “World Champion”, and “Fur and Bling”; each one being another big cheque, to the Swoosh’s bank account. At the rate they’re flying off the shelves, the Dunks will never see itself age—until its maker made it so.

For the Nike Dunk High “Vintage Panda”, creating an aged aesthetic becomes the modus operandi. The hightop retains most of its original color-blocking, from the white base to the black overlays, save for a small retrofitting. The Dunk’s original white midsole have been substituted with a more vintage-accurate Black-Gum colorway. Up top, an exposed foam tongue takes its place, paired with matching sail laces. Aside from the Swoosh on the laterals, the “Nike” text logo is imprinted on the ankle collar where the original didn’t.

There currently are no official details yet aside for the images from Sole Retriever. Until then, have a quick look at another Nike oldhead about to experience a revival: the Nike Air Flight Huarache “OG”.
