Pokémon TCG Blue's Tactics

Blue is one of the most iconic characters in the history of Pokémon. First introduced as the player’s rival and subsequently reigning Pokémon League Champion and final boss battle in Pokémon Red and Blue, the original main-series Pokémon video games, Professor Oak’s grandson was brought back in second-generation games Pokémon Gold and Silver to serve as the new Viridian Gym Leader. Not surprisingly, every Pokémon TCG card which has featured Blue has gone on to be a serious hit—including this one from seventh-generation set Miracle Twin [SM11].

About Blue’s Tactics (Miracle Twin [SM11] 106/095)

Of course, the main reason behind the demand for this card is nostalgia. Those who have been fans of the Pokémon video games fans the very beginning will fondly recall their encounters with Blue in the two earliest generations’ games. The card’s Full Art illustration shows Blue in front of a multicolored background—perhaps alluding to the fact that in the Gen 1 and 2 video games, he was one of just two Trainers who served as boss battles without specializing in a certain type (the other being Red in Pokémon Gold and Silver).

This Super Rare (SR) card was also the first Pokémon TCG card to ever feature Blue and the only one of Gen 7 to do so. While other cards featuring the Pokémon video games’ original rival would eventually come, none would do so until the three Eeveelution Character Rare (CHR) cards from VMAX Climax [S8b]. It should thus come as no surprise that when this card was first launched, it came with a great deal of fanfare.
