Gameplay-wise, one of the most impactful cards to be released in Emperors in the New World [OP-09], the newest ONE PIECE Card Game set, was Gum-Gum Giant. This card has played a major role in the recent resurgence of the Purple Luffy deck in Japan and Asia-Pacific, allowing that deck to maximize its potential and causing the deck to return to its status as one of the current metagame’s leading decks.

About Gum-Gum Giant (Emperors in the New World [OP-09] OP09-078)

When the player plays Gum-Gum Giant, the player must first discard a card from the hand. Following this, the player may add 4000 Power to any Leader or Character card in play as long as the deck’s Leader card is a Straw Hat Crew card such as the Purple Luffy deck’s titular card from Awakening of the New Era [OP-05]. Gum-Gum Giant also functions as a draw engine; following the Power boost, the player draws two cards. This card is especially potent when utilized in certain late-game scenarios.

Interestingly, although this card does feature Monkey D. Luffy in his Gear 5 form, the One Piece protagonist isn’t the focus of this card; as such, its value remains relatively low. Additionally, Event cards don’t usually sell for sizable prices; this card is no exception.

Release Details

This card’s English version will be released in December 2024 with the rest of Emperors in the New World [OP-09].
