The female protagonist of eighth-generation Pokémon video games Pokémon Sword and Shield, Gloria was unsurprisingly featured prominently on a great deal of promotional material in the lead-up to Gen 8. Thus, it was always to be expected that Gen 8 cards such as this one from VMAX Climax [S8b] featuring her would have a significant amount of demand.

Of course, the most obvious factor behind this Super Rare (SR) card’s popularity is the fact that it has a Full Art illustration of a female character. Being one of two possible protagonists of the generation’s main video games, the character herself would be inherently popular as well.

The illustration shows Gloria on Galar’s Route 1 which connects her hometown of Postwick with Wedgehurst. This is also a character-establishing image as it depicts Gloria just starting out on her Pokémon journey; this also makes the card relatable for those who chose to play Pokémon Sword and Shield as Gloria because it references the very beginning of the game.
