Over the years, some Pokémon TCG cards have accumulated tremendous value through their exclusivity. Due to the fact that it was originally only available at certain Pokémon TCG tournaments held in 2019, this particular Sylveon GX card from the seventh-generation SM-P Promotional Cards is one such card.

The first opportunity to obtain this card was at the 2019 Champions League Certified Tournament, held in Chiba in February 2019. After accumulating 8 Play Points via participation in side events, it would be possible to redeem those Play Points to receive this card.

This Sylveon GX card was again made available at the 2019 Champions League Kyoto tournament; it would now take 14 Play Points for redemption. Participation in side tournaments as well as the main tournament itself would allow for accumulation of Play Points.

In June 2019, the Pokémon Japan Championships were held in Chiba; there, this card could once again be redeemed for 8 Play Points which could be collected by participating in either side tournaments or the main tournament. The same would be true of the 2020 Champions League Tokyo tournament in September 2019—the final opportunity when this card could possibly be obtained.

Highlighting this card’s tournament-exclusive status is the Championship Series 2019 logo on the right side of the card. The placement of this logo adds auras of credibility and prestige to the card.

Interestingly, the English version of this card was not a tournament-exclusive card. It was released as card 92a/145 of the Yellow A Alternate cards.

The price of a Sylveon GX (SM-P Promotional Cards 323/SM-P) card is 34,000 JPY (~US$234).
