ARC’TERYX and BEAMS are Dropping their First International Collection
Streetwear's holy grail, a BEAMS x Arc'teryx collection, is going global for the very first time. If that's not big news, we don't know what is.
Though the winning combination of Arc’teryx and BEAMS has had countless sold-out releases since their first collection in 2001, they’ve always stuck to Japan-exclusive drops. That looks to change with “DIMENSIONS”, a familiar 4-piece collection including a patchwork GORE-TEX Beta SL Jacket, a bespoke Backpack and two bespoke Waistpacks.
An interesting aspect to note about the collection is that it offers two pieces – the Beta Jacket and Mantis 2 Waistpack – in the collaboration’s signature patchwork, featuring blocks of beige, black, olive and white. Meanwhile, the Mantis 26 Backpack and Mantis 1 Waistpack focus on a pure white backing that’s only broken by contrasting black, beige or grey zippers and straps.
While the collection is seemingly split in half by the difference in colour choice, it’s tied together by the brands’ logos emblazoned in gold. The fossil of an Archaeopteryx, the primitive creature that Arc’teryx named themselves and fashioned their logo after, immediately grabs one’s attention from the centre of each piece, pushing the collection from high-quality streetwear into status symbol territory. BEAMS’ branding is more subtle, opting for a smaller space on the Beta Jacket cuff or the side panel of each bag, but their influence is made extremely clear through the collection’s colours and stylistic choices.
As previously stated, the BEAMS x Arc’teryx “DIMENSIONS” FW22 collection will be releasing both within Japan and globally. Japan will be receiving the collection through BEAMS’ online store on 26 Aug 2022. For Japan’s early release, the Beta Jacket is retailing for ¥56,100, the white Mantis 26 Backpack for ¥22,000, the white Mantis 1 Waistpack for ¥6,050 and the patchwork Mantis 2 Waistpack for ¥6,600. As for the highly-anticipated global release, no official details are currently known, but that’s expected to surface over the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more!
