[Pokémon TCG] Gen 8’s Take on a “Generic” Supporter Card: Friends in Galar (VMAX Climax [S8b] 258/184)
Another of the many versions of this card which have been printed over the years.
An eighth-generation Pokémon TCG version of a supposedly “generic” Supporter card, Friends in Galar from the VMAX Climax [S8b] set is one of that expansion set’s top picks. Featuring five of the key characters from the Pokémon Sword and Shield video games, the Super Rare (SR) version of Friends in Galar shouldn’t be overlooked.
While five characters—Bede, Hop, Marnie, Victor, and Gloria—are shown on this card, it’s Marnie who’s almost certainly the main attraction here for most. The Dark-type specialist who’s the Spikemuth Gym Leader has featured on one of the best-known cards of Gen 8: the Marnie card from Shield [S1H]. By far the most popular among the fans of the five characters shown on this card, Marnie’s presence alone elevates the card’s value.
Of course, that’s not to say that the other characters don’t add to the card’s desirability either. Gloria, Bede, Victor, and Hop do have decent-sized fan followings of their own. Notably, Victor and Gloria are the games’ male and female protagonists respectively, adding further appeal to the card. Additionally, this card carries the general vibe of an on-the-spot group photo—something which many will find endearing.
The English version of this card is TG23/TG30 from Silver Tempest.
A copy of a Friends in Galar (VMAX Climax [S8b] 258/184) card sells for 7,500 JPY (~US$49).
