Fresh off successful collaborations with ASICS like the atmos Tokyo x Lagua Gem x ASICS GEL-NYC “Blue Topaz” and atmos x ASICS GEL-KAYANO 14 “Yakoutake”, the Japanese streetwear brand is presenting another exciting project, this time reimagining the classic New Balance 580. The “Wood Escape” colorway takes inspiration from the tranquility of nature, drawing on the earthy tones and lush greens of forests and mountains.

The shoe features a breathable mesh base overlaid with premium suede and nubuck panels. Shades of Brown dominate the mudguard, midfoot, and heel, mimicking one of the most prolific colors found in the wilderness. A contrasting Grey balances the color scheme, while pops of Green on the N logo, tongue tag, and heel tab evoke the vibrancy of nature.

For a rugged aesthetic, the design incorporates a hairy suede tongue and laces reminiscent of those found in hiking boots. Functional details include reflective 3M accents on the Green panels for enhanced visibility during outdoor adventures. The Black midsole with a Grey Rollbar provides support and stability, while the gum rubber outsole ensures superior traction on various terrains.

The atmos Tokyo x New Balance 580 “Wood Escape” launched exclusively online at atmos Tokyo on 29 June, priced at 19,800JPY (~US$125). They’re also available via the SNKRDUNK App if you’re interested in a pair.
