Japanese sportswear giant ASICS will release a special edition of its iconic GEL-LYTE III in collaboration with Japanese apparel shop BEAMS.

Originally launched in 1990, the GEL-LYTE III has become a mainstay within ASICS’ discography. This new iteration takes the classic silhouette and injects it with BEAMS’ signature style. The most striking feature is the split tongue, a key design element of the GEL-LYTE III, dramatically amplified in this version.

The toe box, tongue sections, and shoelaces have increased in volume, resulting in a bold and chunky aesthetic that complements streetwear and casual styles.

The collaboration ultimately amalgamates the comfort of ASICS’ GEL technology with BEAMS’ fashion-forward design sensibilities. The pair is slated to release via BEAMS brick-and-click stores in Japan this Saturday, 15 June 2024.
