[Yu-Gi-Oh TCG] The Caveman that Awoke after a Millennium Unites Two Long-Absent Classics (Infinite Forbidden INFO-JP001)
Unless the events of Yu-Gi-Oh are meant to take place in prehistoric times—albeit slightly more recent ones—this card's title would actually be inaccurate.
Up until the release of Premium Pack: The Legend of Duelist Quarter Century Edition in February this year, the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG series has not seen a Japanese version of the Sengenjin card since Premium Pack 3 which was launched in 2000. Yu-Gi-Oh fans elsewhere, have been waiting for 16 years—the most recent Sengenjin card came in Premium Pack 2 way back in 2008.
Millennium Shield, meanwhile, hasn’t been seen internationally since Super Starter: Space-Time Showdown, a Starter Deck released in 2014. In Japan, the wait has been just one year shorter—its last appearance was in 2015’s Duelist Road -Piece of Memory- Side: Yugi Muto. However, in the recently-released Core Booster Infinite Forbidden, both cards are brought together—albeit not on a card bearing either of their names.
The Caveman that Awoke after a Millennium is a retrained version of Sengenjin. Although the flavor text on the Sengenjin card claimed that it carried Millennium Items such as the Millennium Shield, no card had ever depicted Sengenjin actually wielding one of these items until this one. This card even directly alludes to its connection to Sengenjin. If The Caveman that Awoke after a Millennium is a Continuous Spell, the player is allowed to add either a Millennium monster or a Sengenjin card from the deck to your hand.
Due to how long it’s been since the two cards on which it’s based were last seen, the card’s references to the Yu-Gi-Oh canon, and its rarity of Quarter Century Secret Rare, this card has become highly coveted—especially among long-time Yu-Gi-Oh TCG enthusiasts who were around for the last time that the two cards that this card’s based on were last out.
This card isn’t yet out in English.
Acquiring a copy of The Caveman that Awoke after a Millennium (Infinite Forbidden INFO-JP001) costs 3,000 JPY (~US$19).
