[Yu-Gi-Oh TCG] The Fiendsmith Leads One of Three New Archetypes (Infinite Forbidden INFO-JP017)
Given the name of the archetype, the fact that it's LIGHT Fiend monsters is somewhat ironic.
Alongside the Multchummy and White Woods archetypes, the Fiendsmith archetype made its Yu-Gi-Oh TCG debut in the Infinite Forbidden Core Booster. This Core Booster contains 8 Fiendsmith cards of which 6 are LIGHT Fiend monsters—one of which is this card after which the archetype is named.
As one of the cards in a newly introduced archetype, the card has an inherent level of novelty, at least for the period immediately following the release of the set. In addition, The Fiendsmith comes in Quarter Century Secret Rare. Of the 8 Infinite Forbidden cards of the Fiendsmith archetype, only three (including this one) can come in the rarity created in honor of the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG’s 25th anniversary.
For those who are into the lore and world-building aspects of Yu-Gi-Oh, this card’s illustration connects to others in its archetype. The Fiendsmith character can be seen in the artwork on the Fiendsmith Tractus card, a Spell card from this Core Booster that shares the Fiendsmith archetype.
Those who are fans of the Devil May Cry video games would have also noticed the resemblance of The Fiendsmith to Dante, the protagonist of those games. Additionally, both Dante and The Fiendsmith use demon-powered weaponry. Neither of these is coincidental; The Fiendsmith was indeed inspired by the Devil May Cry series.
This card isn’t yet out in English.
The latest figures place the price of one copy of The Fiendsmith (Infinite Forbidden INFO-JP017) at 8,000 JPY (~US$51).
