[Pokémon TCG] Flareon Keeps Things in Line (SV-P Promotional Cards 065/SV-P)
Who ever said line art isn't fit for use on TCG cards, anyway?
Ordinarily, most people wouldn’t think of line art as an art style commonly seen on Pokémon TCG cards. However, when Creatures Inc. partnered with contemporary and modern Asian artist Yu Nagaba, there was always going to be just one outcome. After all, Nagaba has amassed great acclaim for many of his line art works.
This promotional card’s illustration is Nagaba’s line-art rendering of the Fire-type Eeveelution attacking with Fire Spin. Those who are well-versed with Nagaba’s prior artwork will readily recognize his unmistakable art style.
Of course, the main attraction regarding this card is its status as a collaborative work with Nagaba. There are a total of 10 such cards—they depict Eevee, Pikachu, and the eight Eeveelutions (including this one) respectively. In addition, Eeveelutions in general are among the most popular Pokémon—another factor boosting this card’s appeal.
Nagaba’s art style itself is also relevant because it adds the novelty factor. The 10 cards mentioned are the only ones in the history of the Pokémon TCG which make use of line art.
This card was not released in English.
A Flareon (SV-P Promotional Cards 065/SV-P) card bears a price tag of 6,000 JPY (~US$39).
