[Update 2 May 2024] The NBA season may be over for Victor Wembanyama but his career in footwear is just beginning—specifically on 15 May, when his “Alien” Nike GT Hustle 2 is released on Nike SNKRS.

Most first overall picks enter the league with an inherent, immense hype. And rarely do they live up to it—save for Victor Wembanyama. Averaging a double-double despite the San Antonio Spurs’ record, his 7’4″ frame and otherworldly combination of skill and athleticism have earned him the nickname “Alien”.

Nike, who secured him as part of their 2023 rookie class, is already spoiling the rising star with exclusive gear, including custom colorways of his preferred shoe, the GT Hustle 2.

Unveiled during All-Star Weekend, the “Alien” GT Hustle 2 dons a predominantly black upper, splashed with a mesmerizing green galaxy pattern across the mudguard, heel, and collar. Metallic black Swooshes echo the alien motif on the heel, while also subtly stitched onto the green sockliner.

As a final flourish, the outsole boasts a semi-translucent glow-in-the-dark effect, in addition to the “Be Unique Every Day” emblazoned on the sole.

Expect Wemby’s Nike GT Hustle 2 “Alien” to land on shelves at Nike stores and select retailers on 3 May 2024, with a price tag reportedly at US$170.
