Yu-Gi-Oh TCG Obelisk the Tormentor

Long-time Yu-Gi-Oh fans will remember that Obelisk the Tormentor was the first of the three Egyptian God Cards to be summoned in the manga and anime series. This card which has seen a slew of reprints over the years made its latest appearance in the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG’s latest booster pack: Quarter Century Chronicle side:Pride.

The first Egyptian God Card to have a version legal for gameplay, this particular Obelisk the Tormentor card comes in the special Quarter Century Secret Rare rarity created to commemorate the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG’s 25th anniversary. As all three of these cards are now available across the Quarter Century Chronicle side:Pride and Quarter Century Chronicle side:Unity sets, their desirability to collectors intent on completing the set has risen accordingly.

From an in-universe canonical perspective, what sets Obelisk the Tormentor apart from its counterparts lies in the fact that it’s neither named after nor linked to any specific Egyptian god. Additionally, it’s the only card of the trio which isn’t based on a dragon—and these unique qualities might invite curiosity and subsequently interest in this card.

Like the rest of Quarter Century Chronicle side:Pride, an English release date for this card is yet to be announced.

A copy of a Quarter Century Secret Rare Obelisk the Tormentor (Quarter Century Chronicle side:Pride QCCP-JP199) card costs 8,000 JPY (~US$53).
