Reebok Instapump Fury 94 “Sashiko” Denim: A Stitch in Sneaker Time
Stitches traditional Japanese art into modern sneakers.
Reebok takes the Instapump Fury to new heights with a “Sashiko” denim transformation, set to launch in Asia this weekend. Known for its avant-garde design, the Instapump Fury continues to serve as a canvas for innovative themes, following its striking debut at Paris FW24 alongside Noir Kei Ninomiya.
The “Sashiko” version draws inspiration from the traditional Japanese decorative stitching technique, familiar to many through iconic Nike Dunk and Jordan releases. This iteration is adorned with a woven base layer embellished with intricate white stitch patterns, complemented by dark selvedge denim across the pump-equipped cage and toe cap. Distressed piping adds an authentic, well-loved jeans look to the design.
Ease of wear is enhanced with the addition of rope pull tabs on the tongue and heel, complementing the shoe’s slip-on functionality. The design is rounded off with a tan sock lining that harmonizes with the classic gum soles, encapsulating the essence of traditional craftsmanship and modern sneaker culture.
While the Reebok Instapump Fury 94 “Sashiko” is confirmed for release in Japan on 15 March 2024 for US$165, a wider global launch remains uncertain. Sneaker enthusiasts outside Asia should stay tuned here for potential updates on availability.
