Though some were skeptical about how Donovan Mitchell would adapt following his trade from the Utah Jazz to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2022, Mitchell has more than silenced the doubters. Things have been going well in Ohio—and so, with the NBA playoffs approaching, “Spida” has decided to shout-out his team with the new adidas D.O.N. Issue #5 “Cavs”.

This isn’t the first time that the Issue #5 has featured Cavs-themed colors. Early colorways features blue-and-orange color schemes reminiscent of ’90s Cavs jerseys. Other pairs released at launch or more recently have also referenced the Cavs’ vintage jerseys.

This time around, the Cavs’ modern-day color scheme is the inspiration for the colorway. A wine red and jet black sneaker is accented by gold that outlines the “C” in the Cavs’ logo, the three stripes of adidas, and Mitchell’s own logo. It may also allude to the Cavs’ lone NBA championship in 2016 that featured a memorable comeback against the Golden State Warriors.

The adidas D.O.N. Issue #5 “Cavs” dropped on 1 March 2024 via adidas.com. Its retail price is US$120.
