Carhartt WIP, the streetwear arm of Carhartt, is bringing its contemporary “workwear” offerings to Japanese footwear brand Suicoke. In a collaborative effort, Carhartt reinterprets two of Suicoke’s classic sandal silhouettes — the MOTO and DEPA — by infusing it with elements of the brand’s iconic Detroit Jacket.
In the Carhartt WIP x Suicoke MOTO, the slide utilises a mix of Dearborn Canvas and corduroy to construct its upper. This mix of materials is also found in the Detroit Jacket, which is made up of a corduroy top collar and canvas box fit. The nylon straps are marked with Carhartt’s jacquard Script logo branding and is finished with a woven Suicoke label. To ensure that the slides are lightweight and comfortable for daily wear, the footbed is made from a brown antibacterial EVA material. This MOTO slide will be made available in two versatile colors: black and Hamilton Brown.
Next in line is the Carhartt WIP x Suicoke DEPA, which has a similar canvas-corduroy construction. As the sandal counterpart to the MOTO, this DEPA includes two velcro-fastening straps that also features jacquard Script Logo branding. The straps are made of nylon with neoprene and plastic detailing for extra comfort. DEPA will also be made available in Hamilton Brown and black for this collection.
The Carhartt WIP x Suicoke line up will drop on 15 July, 10AM EST (10PM SGT) on Carhartt WIP and Suicoke’s online stores. The MOTO will retail for US$265 while the DEPA is priced at US$242.
