Alongside news of a World Championship-style Dunk High, Nike also teases a fresh new colourway for its iconic High Top. In this rendition, a fierce “Court Purple” graces the signature Swoosh, collar flaps and heel. A mustard yellow acts as a base to this eye-catching purple, with the toebox, laces and tongues drenched in its cheery colour. This impressionable colourway will be sure to turn heads and its vibrant colours hints towards it being a summer release.

The buzz on the internet is that the two tones are a homage to the Lakers’ iconic jerseys.  However, there is presently little news that confirms whether this is indeed a nod towards the NBA team. Some even argue that due to the prominence of purple, it is more akin to the LSU Tigers. Certainly, this is not the first time Nike has had collaborations with the teams — Nike recently released a “Lakers” Air Force 1 in celebration of their 75th Anniversary, and had previously launched a special edition Pegasus 38 doused in LSU’s purple. Only time will tell whether this new Dunk High has any relevance to sports, likely some time this year.
