First released as part of Gen 8 Pokémon TCG set Darkness Ablaze, Grimmsnarl V was reprinted as a promotional card which was the featured card of the Champion’s Path Premium Collection—Marnie and Champion’s Path Special Collection—Marnie; both were released on 23 October 2020.

This card’s Full Art illustration depicts the Dark/Fairy-type Pokémon preparing to unleash its Spiky Knuckle attack; it’s surrounded by the energy waves it’s generating as it gets ready to launch the attack. The imagery that juxtaposes Grimmsnarl V in front of a realistic-looking background adds further visual impact as it’s a stylistic choice that’s rarely ever seen on any Pokémon cards.

Part of this card’s appeal stems from the fact that it originally came bundled with a product centered around Marnie, the Spikemuth Gym Leader who’s a major fan favorite. Additionally, the card’s status as a promotional card only available via specific products has elevated its value.

Release Details

Although there are Japanese versions of this card, the promotional version in particular doesn’t have one.

The price of a Grimmsnarl V (SWSH Black Star Promos SWSH057) card is 2,070 JPY (~US$14).
