Konami has just issued its latest update regarding the rules for Yu-Gi-Oh TCG tournaments to be held under the Time Wizard format. These updates will come into effect starting from the Time Wizard tournaments which will be held at the North America World Championship Qualifier (WCQ) 2025 from 11 to 13 July 2025 as the undercards to the main event.

Under the new rules, there will be three possible formats which Time Wizard tournament organizers can choose from. These formats are the April 2014, April 2010, and July 2005 formats. The formats are so named because in each format, cards which were released at a date later than that in the title are not allowed to be included in any player’s deck.

Gameplay rules regarding first-turn draws will be those of the time period named in the format; however, starting from the North America WCQ 2025, all other game mechanics to be used as well as card text (if applicable) will be the present-day versions.

Additionally, the following card ban and restriction lists will be in use: those from April 2014, March 2010, and April 2005 respectively. The ban and restriction lists to be used will be those which were in force outside Japan and Asia-Pacific during the time after which the specific format is named because Time Wizard tournaments are not held in Japan or Asia-Pacific.
