Although the Super Rare (SR) Shanks Character card from the Red Shanks Starter Deck [ST-23] isn’t a FILM-type card and doesn’t directly allude to One Piece anime movie One Piece Film: Red, a closer look at one of its gameplay effects reveals that this is indeed the case.

About Shanks (Red Shanks Starter Deck [ST-23] ST23-002)

Gameplay-wise, this card provides an additional 2000 Power to the player’s Leader card until the end of the opponent’s next End Phase if the Leader card is a Red-Haired Pirates card or Uta. This is relevant because in One Piece Film: Red, Uta is revealed to be the adopted daughter of Shanks. This is a reference which those who remember that specific detail from the movie will be likely to be impressed by.

This is one of two cards in the Starter Deck which comes in the rarity of SR. Given the fan popularity of Shanks, it’s not surprising that this card has emerged as the card from the Red Shanks Starter Deck [ST-23] with the largest price tag.

Release Details

The Japanese version of this card will be launched on 28 June 2025 as part of the Red Shanks Starter Deck [ST-23].

A copy of a Shanks (Red Shanks Starter Deck [ST-23] ST23-002) card is fairly affordable at just 630 JPY (~US$4.35).
