As per the latest list of card bans and restrictions which would apply to Yu-Gi-Oh TCG tournament decks outside Japan and Asia-Pacific, one of the four cards which would be banned from 7 April 2025 is Bahamut Shark. It has been banned following more than 12 years of having no restrictions whatsoever placed upon it.

About Bahamut Shark (Animation Chronicle 2024 AC04-JP041)

Bahamut Shark was banned for two reasons. The first of these concerns its interaction with the Toadally Awesome card. This is because via the use of Bahamut Shark, the omnigate effect as well as the Graveyard recursion effect of Toadally Awesome can both be used without either being properly Summoned or having specific materials attached. In addition, neither of the two effects have a strict once-per-turn limit imposed upon them.

In addition, the recent emergence of the Ryzeal deck and its heavy use of Rank 4 monster cards has pushed Bahamut Shark into game-breaking territory because to bring Bahamut Shark into play, two Level 4 monster cards need to be used.

From the collector’s perspective, the most coveted version of this card is the one from Animation Chronicle 2024 which comes in the rarity of Secret Rare. This is also a card which is likely to interest those who got into Yu-Gi-Oh via the Yu-Gi-Oh ZEXAL manga series in which it’s the signature card of Ryoga Kamishiro.

This card has already been released in English.

As of the latest figures, a copy of a Secret Rare Bahamut Shark (Animation Chronicle 2024 AC04-JP041) card sells for 1,180 JPY (~US$8).
