About Pikachu (SM-P Promo Cards 288/SM-P)
Released in 2018 as part of a special collaboration between Pokémon and Tokyo’s Munch Retrospective art exhibition, this Pokémon TCG promotional card pays homage to Edvard Munch’s legendary painting The Scream, seamlessly blending Pokémon’s charm with classic art history.
To celebrate the event, Pokémon teamed up with the museum to create a unique Munch-inspired promotional card set featuring Pikachu and other Pokémon in the iconic Scream-like pose. Among them, the Pikachu promotional card, available exclusively in Japan, stood out as the most coveted by far. To this day, many Pikachu or Pokémon TCG collectors dream of getting their hands on it.
With its limited availability, artistic significance, and Pikachu’s worldwide appeal, this card has become one of the most sought-after Pokémon promotional releases. Originally distributed through museum-related events and Pokémon Centers in Japan, its rarity has driven high demand among collectors globally. A PSA 10-graded copy of this card often commands premium prices within the secondary market with it hitting six times more than the raw card, solidifying its status as a prized collector’s item.
