Each monthly issue of shōnen animanga magazine V Jump comes bundled with a new promotional Yu-Gi-Oh TCG card. In the case of the May 2025 issue to be released on 21 March 2025, that card will be Darkuriboh.

Cards of the Kuriboh archetype such as this Darkuriboh card have always been among the most popular among the Yu-Gi-Oh fandom. This is because in the original Yu-Gi-Oh anime and manga as well as each of its spin-offs, each protagonist has used a card of the Kuriboh archetype at some point. According to the anime, the Kuriboh characters in question are the spiritual partners of the protagonists and have special connections to them.

Darkuriboh is a Dark counterpart of Winged Kuriboh, a card depicting a character best known for its ties to Yu-Gi-Oh GX protagonist Jaden Yuki. As such, those who got into the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG via Yu-Gi-Oh GX might be particularly drawn to this card.
