With regard to the ONE PIECE Card Game metagame, the biggest development to emerge from the recently-released Anime 25th Collection [EB-02] was the sudden emergence of the Green/Purple Luffy deck. Almost right off the bat, it made major impacts in tournaments and less than a month after the set’s release in January 2025, the Green/Purple Luffy deck clearly established itself as a tournament staple.

Though not always included in the Green/Purple Luffy deck, one card with which some of its players have experimented to reasonable levels of success is another Anime 25th Collection [EB-02] card: Roronoa Zoro.

About Roronoa Zoro (Anime 25th Collection [EB-02] EB02-019)

When this card is played, the player gets the opportunity to rest an opposing Character with a cost of 4 or less, thus mitigating any threats that such opposing Character cards might have otherwise posed and set those Character cards up to be KO’d. In addition, if the opponent has multiple Character cards in play, this Zoro card can be used to attack opposing Character cards on the same turn that it’s played.

Although the original version of the card is already out, a version that’s certain to be even more coveted is on the way. Fittingly for a card with metagame relevance, this card’s most valuable iteration will be the one awarded to winners of Standard Battle tournaments in Japan and Asia-Pacific in March 2025. The card’s Parallel Art illustration shows Zoro in combat making use of his signature Three Sword Style; the angle of the image focuses on the sword held between his teeth—the element which differentiates Three Sword Style.

Release Details

The English version of this card will be out in May 2025 along with the rest of the cards in the Anime 25th Collection [EB-02].

This card’s sale price will only be known following its release and after the first copies to make it to the open market do so.
