[Pokémon TCG] Feraligatr Master Ball Mirror (Terastal Festival ex [SV8a] 034/187) [Release Date/Price/Where To Buy]
Having come out of absolutely nowhere, this card's now the talk of the Pokémon TCG community after Hiromu Sasaki's stunning Champions League Fukuoka victory.

Although the Feraligatr card which was originally released as part of Wild Force [SV5K] had been around for quite some time, it hadn’t even been close to being metagame-viable until recently. However, after a player at a City League tournament in Kyoto secured victory with the Feraligatr/Munkidori, Pokémon TCG players everywhere began to take notice—and they were fully justified to do so as Hiromu Sasaki would subsequently go on to take the deck spearheaded by this card to the Champions League Fukuoka title less than a month after its emergence.
About Feraligatr Master Ball Mirror (Terastal Festival ex [SV8a] 034/187)
From a gameplay perspective, on the surface Feraligatr packs tremendous power but is flawed in several ways. Its Ability of Torrential Heart powers up its Giant Wave attack by 120—but in order to activate that Ability, the player must first place five damage counters on Feraligatr. In addition, although Giant Wave inflicts a whopping 280 damage for just two Water Energy cards following the Torrential Heart power boost, Feraligatr can’t use Giant Wave—its only attack—on consecutive turns.
It’s for this reason that the Feraligatr/Munkidori deck includes Munkidori from Mask of Change [SV6] as well as Relicanth from Wild Force [SV5K]. Each of those cards has an Ability which counters the drawbacks of Feraligatr’s Ability and attack respectively, allowing Feraligatr free rein to unleash a flurry of crushing hits.
Collectors will be most drawn to the reprinted version of this card from Terastal Festival ex [SV8a]—the Master Ball Mirror version. True to its name, the Master Ball Mirror version of this card features a Master Ball print backed by “cracked ice” holofoil. Since the Master Ball Mirror version of the card is significantly rarer than the original, it’s thus much more expensive as well.
