Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA), the ascendant star of the Oklahoma City Thunder, has not only inked a contract with Converse but a significant chapter in their history, being the new face of the quintessential American sportswear brand.

Following his multi-year extension in April 2024 and the unveiling of his signature line’s logo in December, Gilgeous-Alexander now unveils the SHAI 001, his first shoe—a testament to his burgeoning influence and Converse’s renewed ambition within the hardwood arena.

The SHAI 001 is a symphony of futuristic design and high-performance engineering. Its sleek, zippered upper, layered with bold paneling, speaks to a contemporary aesthetic. Beneath, a sculpted midsole promises comfort, seamlessly transitioning from the rigors of the court to the cadence of everyday life.

“I wanted to create something new,” SGA articulated. “I wanted to bring Converse into my world and see it through my lens.”

The pair will be in action when he graces the NBA All-Star Weekend as a Western Conference starter, his feet clad in the SHAI 001. It will be a debut worthy of the grand stage.

Release Details

The official release of the Converse SHAI 001 is slated for Fall 2025, with whispers of future colorways adding fuel to the fire.
