LINE

For a quarter of a century, atmos has been pivotal in shaping Japan’s and, by large, the world’s street culture landscape. Inching more into terra incognita, Hirofumi Kojima, the brand’s Head of Product, recently teased a bandana-infused reimagining of the New Balance 1000.

About the atmos x New Balance 1000 “Bāṅdhnū”

The full narrative behind the atmos x New Balance 1000 remains a secret, but Kojima’s cryptic caption, featuring the Hindi word bāṅdhnū—meaning “to tie,” the etymological wellspring of “bandana”—offers a clue. The accompanying images reveal the retro runner cloaked in the classic monochrome palette of the iconic kerchief. Paisley motifs, intricate and timeless, dance across the pair’s textured upper and insole.
