Although not necessarily a deck that’s currently at the peak of Yu-Gi-Oh TCG tournament play, the Blackwing deck has nonetheless carved out a niche for itself in the current metagame. One of the most important cards to this deck (if not the single most important) is Blackwing – Vayu the Emblem of Honor.

About Blackwing – Vayu the Emblem of Honor (Duelist Edition Volume 4 DE04-JP002)

If Blackwing – Vayu the Emblem of Honor is in the player’s Graveyard, the player gets the chance to target a non-Tuner Blackwing monster card also in the Graveyard. Following this, the player can then Special Summon a Blackwing Synchro Monster from the Extra Deck; however, that Blackwing Synchro Monster must have a level equal to that of the total of the levels of the banished monster cards. Although the Special Summoned Synchro Monster card’s effects are negated, the fact that the card in question can be brought into play earlier than what would normally be expected is a major benefit to the deck’s players.

Much of the popularity of this card stems from Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s, a Yu-Gi-Oh anime spin-off series. It was part of Crow Hogan’s deck; although it made just three appearances throughout the series, it nevertheless became a somewhat unexpected fan favorite. Of this card’s three versions, the rarest and most valuable is the Ultra Rare card from Duelist Edition Volume 4.
