The Mermail Atlantean deck is one which has been rising in Yu-Gi-Oh TCG metagame prominence. As such, demand for several of its cards is increasing among the player base. One such card is Atlantean Heavy Infantry.

About Atlantean Heavy Infantry (Structure Deck: Roar of the Sea Emperor SD23-JP004)

Atlantean Heavy Infantry is primarily used as a disruptive card. First off, Mermail Abyssalacia is played to discard Atlantean Heavy Infantry before adding a Mermail card to the player’s hand. After Atlantean Heavy Infantry is discarded, the player can then target an opposing controlled face-up card to be destroyed. For players outside Asia-Pacific including Japan, this combo works well alongside cards with similar effects such as Abyss Dweller and Toadally Awesome (both those cards are, however, fully banned from tournament play in the East).

Outside of gameplay, what’s notable about this card is that despite being a Common, its price has steeply increased in recent times. As such, an Atlantean Heavy Infantry card now outvalues many cards of significantly higher rarity. This is largely due to the fact that only two versions of the card exist; the most recent of these was printed all the way back in 2017’s LINK VRAINS Pack.
