Waifu-mania: Pokémon TCG Battle Partners [SV9] Trainer Cards Revealed
Pokémon TCG Battle Partners [SV9] is bringing the waifu heat. Check out some of the top female trainer cards before it's big release on 24 Jan!
With the winds of Terastal Festival [SV8a] in its sails, Pokémon TCG is going full steam ahead with the release of Battle Partners [SV9] later this week on 24 Jan. While we’ve previously previewed some of the rarest cards (SAR) you can find in Battle Partners, a new series of leaks of have emerged, which has even led to some older cards rocketing in price.
1. Lillie Makes her Grand Return
While we’ve already seen Lillie’s Clefairy ex SAR [SV9 126/100], two new cards—Lillie’s Rimbombee AR [SV9 105/100], and Lillie’s Clefairy ex SR [SV9 115/100]. This marks Lillie’s return as a full art card in Pokémon TCG after an extended period.
To say she is one of the franchise’s most popular characters is an understatement. Popularized as one of the top waifu pulls in the series, her appearance in Battle Partners has conjured up a storm of excitement—even for her older cards. For example, the promotional Clefairy (Lillie) [SM-P 381] has seen a staggering increase in popularity and sales; a graded PSA 10 on the SNKRDUNK App now goes for US$555. Similarly, Lillie’s Full Force SR [068/049] from Dream League [SM11b] now goes for US$588 in a PSA 10.

2. Iono Continues to Impress
Battle Partners [SV9] is holding back no punches—together with the aforementioned Lillie, Iono is featured as the set’s titular character. Interestingly, Pokémon gave out a free promotional card—Iono’s Wattrel P [SV-P 232]—with every preorder on Pokémon Center Japan. It attests to Iono’s popularity that the promotional card is already selling for ~US$48 on our platform.
Iono’s Bellibolt ex SAR [SV9 125/100] is already touted as one of the top pulls from Battle Partners, with the forecasted market price to be around US$125 for a raw card. Now, two new cards, Iono’s Bellibolt ex SR [SV9 114/100] and Iono’s Bellibolt ex UR [SV9 130/100] have been revealed to be part of Battle Partners. This brings Iono’s cards in the set to 11 (including the stamped ones). It truly is Iono’s time to shine, and it is expected that all five full-art cards featured above will fetch a decent aftermarket price once the set releases. That being said, expect the pull rates for these (and Lillie, of course) to be unforgiving.

3. Iris Joins the Party
Iris features as Battle Partners [SV9]’s solo female supporter/trainer card, alongside her male compatriots Brock and Ruffian. While Lillie and Iono are certain to grab headlines, Unova’s final gym leader is no slouch herself. Her previous card from Megalo Cannon, Iris SR[BW9 082/076] goes for more than US$2,000 in a PSA 10.
4. Let’s Not Forget About the Boys
While the ladies will undoubtedly take center-stage, let’s not forget about the boys—N and Hop feature as Lillie and Iono’s male counterparts in Battle Partners. Tagging along their trusted partners, Zoroark and Zacian respectively, both N and Hop are included as ARs, SRs, and URs. To note, Hop’s Zacian SAR [SV9 128/100] showcases one of the set’s most intimate artworks, and is forecasted at a market price of US$60.
There you have it—the latest set of reveals from Pokémon TCG Battle Partners [SV9]. It will be interesting to see how these cards, especially the waifus, perform on the aftermarket, but that’s a conversation to be had after the official release on 24 Jan.
