Long-time Pokémon fans will be most well-versed with Miltank as the signature Pokémon of Goldenrod Gym Leader Whitney in Pokémon Gold and Silver—one of the most difficult boss battles in the history of the Pokémon video games. Now, with the release of the English-exclusive Miltank Master Ball Mirror card in English Pokémon TCG set Prismatic Evolutions [PRE], Miltank has probably its most highly-coveted card to date.

About Miltank Master Ball Mirror (Prismatic Evolutions [PRE] 081/131)

Like all other Master Ball Mirror cards, this card has a “cracked ice” holofoil design as well as a Master Ball print on the card’s lower half. Neither of these cards were present on the original Japanese version of the card from Generations Start Deck Lugia ex & Tyranitar ex. Being an English-exclusive Master Ball Mirror card, it was always to be expected that it would fetch significant value.

Since the card was first released in a Start Deck centered around Gen 2, it comes as little surprise that the card itself references the memorable battle against Whitney from Gold and Silver. Whitney’s Miltank was notorious for its difficulty because at that early stage of the game, overcoming its Rollout attack was a mighty challenge for those new to the game. Not only is one of this card’s attacks Rollout; its second attack of Moomoo Rolling can be seen as a reference to how Rollout’s power in the video games increases with each consecutive hit. Moomoo Rolling deals 100 damage to Rollout’s 20—but it can only be used if the player used Rollout on the previous turn.

Release Details

Although this card has been released in Japanese, its Master Ball Mirror iteration is an English-exclusive card.
