[Pokémon TCG] Hisuian Heavy Ball (Space Juggler [S10P] 062/067) [Release Date/Price/Where To Buy]
This card's impending removal from the metagame will deal a massive blow to so many decks.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the prequel to fourth-generation main series Pokémon video games Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, introduced a new Poké Ball which will almost never certainly be seen in any other Pokémon video game: the Hisuian Heavy Ball, so named because it only existed in Hisui, the name of the Sinnoh region centuries before the events of Diamond and Pearl took place. The Hisuian Heavy Ball has also made a significant impact in the Pokémon TCG—however, this won’t be for much longer as it’s about to be rotated out of tournament play.
About Hisuian Heavy Ball (Space Juggler [S10P] 062/067)
Hisuian Heavy Ball, a card from Space Juggler [S10P], is an extremely versatile card which fits into just about any deck. This Item card’s effect is as follows: the player first looks at the player’s own face-down Prize cards before revealing any Basic Pokémon you found there, if any. If there is one, the player places that Basic Pokémon in hand, then replaces it with the Hisuian Heavy Ball which becomes a face-down Prize card. The player then shuffles the face-down Prize cards after Hisuian Heavy Ball is placed there. However, if the player doesn’t have any Basic Pokémon among the face-down Prize cards, Hisuian Heavy Ball is discarded.
It should be fairly obvious as to why this card is so great. Not only does it give the player a chance to add another Basic Pokémon to the Bench; it also allows the player to find out which cards have been Prized and thus recalibrate the strategy for the game accordingly. In addition, if the player has more than one Basic Pokémon in the discard pile, it’s possible for the player to pick that up as well if the player is fortunate enough to bring back the newly-Prized Hisuian Heavy Ball by drawing it from the Prize stack.
This card is almost entirely notable for gameplay reasons. This is because with a rarity of Uncommon (U), this card isn’t particularly rare or valuable.
