Ever since its introduction in the Pokémon TCG’s first generation, Energy Search has been reprinted on countless occasions and is unquestionably one of the most iconic Item cards of all time. With the release of Paradise Dragona [SV7a], this decades-long stalwart of the Pokémon TCG received an ACE SPEC upgrade in the form of Energy Search Pro.

About Energy Search Pro (Paradise Dragona [SV7a] 052/064)

Energy Search Pro allows the player to take as many Basic Energy cards of different types as desired, then place them all in hand. As an ACE SPEC card, only one copy of Energy Search Pro is allowed to be included in any deck—and the deck in question is almost always the Gholdengo ex deck. The deck’s titular card from Raging Surf [SV3a] has the Make It Rain attack which deals 50 damage per Energy card discard from the player’s hand—something that can be facilitated via Energy Search Pro.

Being an ACE SPEC card, Energy Search Pro thus has the ACE SPEC rarity unique to these exceptionally powerful Item cards. The card also plays to the nostalgia factor to an extent as it’s a new take on a card which has been around almost since the very beginning of the Pokémon TCG; the Energy icons in the illustration call to mind some of the Energy Search illustration from many years ago.

The English version of this card is card 176/191 in Surging Sparks [SSP].

A copy of an Energy Search Pro (Paradise Dragona [SV7a] 052/064) card sells for 2,190 JPY (~US$14).

As of 20 December 2024, this card is selling at below retail price on SNKRDUNK.
