It isn’t often that a Parallel Art version of a ONE PIECE Card Game card has an image that directly references its original version. This, however, is exactly what has happened in the case of the Sanji card originally from the 3D2Y [ST-14] Starter Deck which has just received a Parallel Art reprint.

About Sanji (3D2Y [ST-14] ST14-003)

The original version of the card featured an illustration which showed Sanji frantically trying to escape Momoiro Island where he was being pursued by multiple okama. This Super Rare Special (SR-SPC) version’s Parallel Art illustration, however, shows Sanji at peace with himself around those same okama—soon before he was to be temporarily converted into one himself. These scenes also directly allude to the Starter Deck’s theme of the two-year timeskip between both halves of the One Piece storyline because during the timeskip, Sanji trained on Momoiro Island.

Since this card’s illustration is a direct counterpart to that of the original, many collectors are likely to be interested in owning both versions of the card. Interestingly, the events depicted on both cards aren’t explicitly canonical as they only took place in the One Piece anime but not the manga. Nevertheless, that doesn’t detract from the value of the card.

The price of a Sanji (3D2Y [ST-14] ST14-003) card of SR-SPC rarity is 4,200 JPY (~US$28).
