Pokémon TCG Gastly

The first form of the only Ghost-type evolutionary line of Pokémon’s first generation, Gastly and its evolutions Haunter and Gengar occupy unique places within the Pokémon canon. It therefore came as little surprise that when the release of Pokémon TCG set Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a] brought with it a Master Ball Mirror version of its Gastly card, that version accumulated demand and thus value rapidly.

About Gastly Master Ball Mirror (Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a] 092/165)

As is the case with all other Master Ball Mirror cards in Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a], the Gastly Master Ball Mirror card which features a Master Ball pattern across the card elevates it to a point beyond what would ordinarily be expected of this card. Additionally, the final form of Gastly is Gengar, and the Gengar card from Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a] has a Master Ball Mirror version which ranks among the most valuable and desired cards of the entire set. This fact would indirectly jack up demand for the cards of its pre-evolutions—especially in their own Master Ball Mirror versions.

Just like the illustrations of its evolutions’ cards from Pokémon Card 151 [SV2a], the card’s illustration by Tomokazu Komiya perfectly encapsulates the chaotic yet almost whimsical nature of the Ghost/Poison-type Pokémon. Komiya also illustrated the Haunter and Gengar cards from the same set; it can thus be implied that the illustrations of the three cards are intended to be put one after the other so as to create a narrative, thus further raising their value.
