Heavy Storm has been a staple of the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG since its debut in 2000 as part of Booster 7. Most notably, it featured in a whopping 15 Structure Decks between 2002 and 2013. The latest edition of this card came in the recently-distributed Quarter Century Limited Pack—and in Quarter Century Secret Rare, at that.

About Heavy Storm (Quarter Century Limited Pack QCLP-JP006)

Apart from the Gold Rare versions from Gold Series and The Gold Box, this Quarter Century Secret Rare card is by far the rarest Heavy Storm card over its long history. It’s also a card which will appeal to Yu-Gi-Oh anime fans because it has made many appearances in the Yu-Gi-Oh anime as well as its spin-offs including Yu-Gi-Oh GX and Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s.

Gameplay-wise, this card has a storied history. Such is its power that it’s been banned from tournament play outside Japan and Asia-Pacific since September 2013; in fact, the first restrictions imposed upon it came less than a week after its international release in 2002. In the East, Heavy Storm remains tournament-legal as long as a deck has just one copy of it. This has been the case since January 2024; prior to that, the card had been banned for nine years. Several players outside Japan and Asia-Pacific have recently advocated for this card’s unban there as well.
