Pokémon TCG Venusaur & Snivy GX

Of the two English Pokémon TCG cards which have just been highlighted by having their Abilities officially edited, by far the larger pull of the two is the Venusaur & Snivy GX card from Cosmic Eclipse, the last English set of the Pokémon TCG’s seventh generation. Even before the recent news which will undoubtedly draw more eyes to this card, it was already among the most impressive cards of its set.

About Venusaur & Snivy GX (Cosmic Eclipse 201/182)

Although four versions of this Venusaur & Snivy GX card were released as part of Cosmic Eclipse, the standout of the quartet is the Rainbow Rare version. As is the case with all other such cards, this card depicting the two Grass-type Pokémon is covered in a layer of rainbow-colored holofoil. In addition to the card’s rarity and aesthetic value, it depicts a pair of starter Pokémon—many of which tend to be fan favorites. On top of that, the fact that it’s a final form of a starter alongside an initial form gives the card something of a “mentor and protégé” vibe that’s occasionally seen on other TAG TEAM Pokémon-GX cards.

The fact that the card has just had its Ability of Shining Vine edited will also cause more attention to be brought to it, thus potentially driving up its value in the short term. With the edited Ability, players will be able to activate Shining Vine more than once per turn by using non-standard methods to circumvent the rule that ordinarily limits the number of Energy cards to be attached per turn to just one.
