All the way back in 2007, Konami introduced the Gladiator card archetype as part of Series 5 Yu-Gi-Oh TCG Core Booster Gladiator’s Assault. Although more Gladiator cards were released over the ensuing years, none of them were specific support for Gladiator cards. This, however, changed with the launch of Supreme Darkness. Of these support cards, the biggest pull was Gladiator Beast Claudius.

About Gladiator Beast Claudius (Supreme Darkness SUDA-JP038)

As is fitting for a card for which the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG community had been waiting for 17 years, the imagery of this card includes visual elements taken from a slew of Gladiator cards of the past. In total, references to 19 Gladiator cards can be seen in various parts of this card’s illustration. This is likely to impress many long-time Yu-Gi-Oh TCG fans who will be able to enjoy the nostalgia while also appreciating the cross-references to cards and sets from many years ago.

Gladiator Beast Claudius is among the Supreme Darkness cards which can potentially come in Quarter Century Secret Rare. Finally, it’s notable from a gameplay perspective as well because with its original ATK of 3700 and Level of 12, Gladiator Beast Claudius has the highest original ATK and Level of all Gladiator Beast monsters. Its Level of 12 also tops the chart among all Beast monsters.

Release Details

The English version of this card will be released on 23 January 2025 as part of Supreme Darkness.
