[Pokémon TCG] Milotic ex (Super Electric Breaker [SV8] 131/106) [Release Date/Price/Where To Buy]
Cue the flashbacks of all those tedious hours spent trying to fish up just one Feebas, then even more hours spent trying to evolve it via at the time, the most circuitous Pokémon evolutionary method ever.
In the Pokémon video games, Milotic is most commonly remembered as one of the most difficult Pokémon to obtain back in the third and fourth generations. To do so, the player would have to fish up a Feebas from one of just a few of hundreds of water tiles on either Hoenn’s Route 119 or in Sinnoh’s Mt. Coronet, then evolve it by loading it up with plenty of blue Pokéblocks (Gen 3) or Poffins (Gen 4). Fortunately, despite also being a mega-rare card, there’s no need to go to such lengths to pick up a copy of the Milotic ex card from recently-released Pokémon TCG set Super Electric Breaker [SV8].
About Milotic ex (Super Electric Breaker [SV8] 131/106)
The stunning Full Art illustration on this Special Art Rare (SAR) card is clearly the card’s standout feature. Milotic ex is seen uncoiling its serpentine body as it arises from the water. The card’s holofoil adds further visual appeal by making it seem as though sunlight is streaming down into the water, it also emphasizes the splashes that Milotic ex is making as it emerges, making the illustration appear more life-like. Milotic ex’s most iconic physical feature—its majestic multi-colored tail—is also clearly emphasized in the imagery.
As has been mentioned, although Milotic isn’t anywhere near as rare a Pokémon in the video games these days as it once was, those appearances in Gens 3 and 4 nonetheless remain its greatest legacy in the Pokémon fandom; this adds further appeal as well as something of a nostalgia factor to this card for those who got into Pokémon during Gen 3 or 4.
