The NBA pre-season is now underway; one of its highlights was the third annual “Rain City Showcase”, a one-off pre-season game held in Seattle. This year’s edition saw the Los Angeles Clippers face off against the Portland Trail Blazers—and for the first time ever, Creatures Inc. got in on the action by releasing a promotional Pokémon TCG card to go with it.

Everyone who attended the 2024 Rain City Showcase at Climate Pledge Arena received a promotional Pikachu card. This card was a reprint of the card from Paldean Fates [PAL] but with the Rain City Showcase logo on its right side. Each copy of the card came in a card sleeve featuring a Terastallized Charizard.

Other Pokémon-themed items were sold at the Rain City Showcase as well. These included a Pokémon cap and a Pokémon pin; both had the Rain City Showcase logos on them as well.

The Rain City Showcase was likely selected for this tie-in event because Nintendo of America is based in Redmond, located less than 30 kilometers from Seattle.

The promotional Pikachu card from the Rain City Showcase was only released in English. Its price won’t be known until the first copies make it to the open market.
