Being one of the most popular Pokémon ever since the beginning of the entire franchise, Charizard has featured on some of the most iconic Pokémon TCG cards over the years. Its VSTAR from eighth-generation Pokémon TCG set VSTAR Universe [S12a] ended up being yet another megahit to add to the list.

About Charizard VSTAR (VSTAR Universe [S12a] 212/172)

The first thing that’s immediately noticeable about this card is the stunning, eye-catching Full Art illustration. It depicts Charizard VSTAR in battle against a Mewtwo VSTAR; in the background of the illustration, a Diglett and a Tangrowth can be seen looking on. This additional detail adds to the atmosphere of the image by showing the Pokémon awestruck by the might of the two combatants.

This same illustration is half of a two-part illustration. The other half is on the Mewtwo VSTAR card also from VSTAR Universe [S12a]. That card depicts the same Mewtwo VSTAR which is fighting Charizard VSTAR on this card. Finally, the holofoil sparkles all over the card supply additional visual appeal.

That being said, this card’s not all about the illustration. It does have a rarity of Special Art Rare (SAR), making it an inherently impressive pull. On top of that, since Charizard has always been a major fan favorite, this card will always have some level of appeal among the fanbase in general.
