The Rob Lucci card from Awakening of the New Era [OP-05] is one of several ONE PIECE Card Game cards to receive a recent alternate-art reprint. While the character is best known within the TCG as the Leader card which serves as the headliner of the Black Lucci deck, this Character card depicting the CP0 agent is a major get in its own right.

The background of the illustration seen on this Super Rare Special (SR-SPC) card is covered in a leopard-print pattern. This directly refers to Lucci’s Devil Fruit, the Cat-Cat Fruit, Model: Leopard which he uses in combat to either transform into a full leopard or a human/leopard hybrid. Lucci’s pet pigeon Hattori can also be seen on his right shoulder, as is often the case in the manga and anime.

Lucci has also gained a renewed prominence among the One Piece fandom because the first major fight of the manga’s recently-concluded Egghead Arc pitted protagonist Monkey D. Luffy against Lucci on Egghead Island. This was a rematch that fans had been awaiting for 17 years after their first duel during the Enies Lobby Arc.
