[ONE PIECE Card Game] Donquixote Rosinante (Kingdoms of Intrigue [OP-04] OP04-119) [Release Date/Price/Where To Buy]
An alternate-art iteration, it's a far more impressive pull than its original version.
Introduced during the Dressrosa Arc during one of Trafalgar Law’s flashbacks, Donquixote Rosinante ended up becoming a major fan favorite despite having died long before the events of the arc. Thus, when the Donquixote Rosinante card from Kingdoms of Intrigue [OP-04] was reprinted with an all-new illustration, the card rapidly became highly sought-after among the ONE PIECE Card Game community.
About Donquixote Rosinante (Kingdoms of Intrigue [OP-04] OP04-119)
The background of the alternate-art illustration on this Secret Rare Special (SEC-SPC) card is mainly covered in heart shapes—a direct reference to Rosinante’s codename of “Corazón”, the Spanish word for “heart”. It also alludes to the card suit motif of the top executive officers of Donquixote Doflamingo, Rosinante’s brother who killed him after finding out that Rosinante was protecting Law after it was known that Law was the bearer of the Op-Op Fruit and its powers; it is arguably the most powerful Devil Fruit in the One Piece universe. Cards that directly allude to the manga often tend to have additional appeal to many fans.
In addition, this card’s rarity of SEC-SPC as well as its alternate-art illustration both inherently elevate its value. Finally, the flame patterns that can be seen in the card’s background are a further allusion to the manga. They reference the scene in Chapter 761 when, as part of Law’s flashback, Rosinante was shown accidentally setting himself on fire in front of a young Law.
