The newly-released ONE PIECE Card Game set Emperors in the New World [OP-09] placed a spotlight on the Four Emperors—most notably, by having each of them showcased on their own Manga Rare cards. Due to this, the Four Emperors’ new Leader cards—such as this Shanks card—might easily have gone overlooked; however, though not at the status of the Manga Rares, these are nonetheless impressive pulls in their own right.

The release of a Shanks Leader card in this set will certainly draw the attention of serious players because the only Leader card to date depicting the captain of the Red Hair Pirates is the one from the ONE PIECE FILM edition Starter Deck [ST-05]. That card is next to unplayable; it’s regarded as one of the worst Leader cards ever released. As such, this card will certainly make up for that.

Additionally, Shanks is among the most popular characters in the entire One Piece manga, thus adding further appeal to this card. There’s also the fact that his role in the current storyline of the manga is likely to increase in importance—perhaps as soon as the very next arc. This additional plot relevance will probably elevate the card’s value even more.

This card will be released in English in December 2024, just like the rest of Emperors in the New World [OP-09].
