[Pokémon TCG] Pikachu (XY-P Promotional Cards) [Release Date/Price/Where To Buy]
A card released for a good cause.
More than three years after a massive earthquake and tsunami struck the Tōhoku region, the immense harm done to the area was still keenly felt. Thus, The Pokémon Company went on to launch a philanthropic initiative known as POKÉMON with YOU. As part of this initiative, a promotional Pikachu card was distributed to residents of the region in November 2014.
About Pikachu (XY-P Promotional Cards)
This card was the only card ever released as part of the POKÉMON with YOU initiative, giving it a unique status among all promotional cards. The card’s illustration also includes a rendering of the POKÉMON with YOU wagon, the vehicle from which representatives of The Pokémon Company distributed the cards in real life.
Instead of the usual flavor text taken from a Pokédex entry from the video games, this card has flavor text that directly refers to the POKÉMON with YOU wagon. Additionally, Pikachu is pictured with two other Pokémon: Chespin and Victini. The latter is significant because Mythical Pokémon Victini is known as the Victory Pokémon, bringing victory to all who encounter it. It was placed in the illustration to symbolize the triumph of the residents of Tōhoku in the face of adversity following the earthquake and tsunami.
