Tobyato, the Singaporean contemporary visual artist, has emerged as a prominent figure in his country’s zeitgeist, renowned for his eclectic collaborations with legacy brands such as Nike, ASICS, Clarks, Samsung, Levi’s, and Hugo. His signature motifs—traditional Asian aesthetics interpreted through his heritage, personality, and playful proclivities—have also adorned murals in Jakarta, Paris, and Los Angeles.

About the Tobyato x Mothership Apparel Capsule Collection

Although many of his works have been far-reaching, his latest is much closer to home. Together with Mothership, the Singapore-based digital media and news company, Tobyato inaugurates “The <Placeholder> Project by Mothership”, a platform designed to showcase the talents of emerging local artists. The profits generated from this project will be directly channeled towards supporting the artists and furthering the agency’s arts initiatives.

As the vanguard of this endeavor, the parties present a special clothing capsule comprising t-shirts in two evocative colorways: Midnight and Sunrise. The reverse side of the tee features Mothership’s branding presiding over the phrases: “Locally sourced”, “Free range news”, and “Any fresher you’ll have to create the content yourself”—presented through an MO that’s distinctively the artist’s.
