[Pokémon TCG] Poncho-wearing Pikachu “Mega Charizard Y” (XY-P Promotional Cards 208/XY-P) [Release Date/Price/Where to Buy]
Not to be overshadowed by its X counterpart, the Mega Charizard Y version of Poncho-wearing Pikachu is majorly impressive in its own right.
The Poncho-wearing Pikachu series of Pokémon TCG promotional cards ended up being among the most popular of the sixth generation. Released as part of the Mega Charizard Y Poncho-wearing Pikachu Special Box in January 2016, this particular Poncho-wearing Pikachu card more than holds its own among the six such cards released in that generation.
This card’s status as a promotional card is further boosted by the fact that it’s Pikachu dressed as the Mega Evolution of Charizard—two of the most iconic Pokémon of all. The card also references one of the best-known and most valuable Gen 6 cards: the Mega Charizard ex card from Wild Blaze [XY2]. Poncho-wearing Pikachu has an attack named “Crimson Dive?”—the same as that Mega Charizard ex card but with a question mark, showing that this isn’t the real Mega Charizard ex.
This is also a limited-edition card which will never be reprinted; that fact drives up the card’s value. Finally, those who are willing to shell out massive amounts of money might seek to complete the entire set of Poncho-wearing Pikachu cards (of course, given their enormous price tags today, it certainly helps if one or more was obtained during the original releases).
This card is only available in Japanese.
The price of a Poncho-wearing Pikachu (XY-P Promotional Cards 208/XY-P) card is a staggering 550,000 JPY (~US$3,757)!
